Question #41
If the Jewish tradition is about hierarchies, why are there so many examples in Jewish/Christian lore about the younger son usurping the elder's role?
(Moses and Aaron, Cain and Abel, Joseph and his twelve brothers - he wasn't the youngest; just the second to the youngest Benjamin, Esau and Jacob)

You gotta wonder about the Da Vincci code theories on women in the bible.
This goes back to that question on Cain and Able procreating. I don’t think my answer posted, but they had sisters. The procreated with their sisters...apparently back then with so little population, incest wasn’t so icky.
They leave out most all info about women in both the 1st and new testaments. They do mention KEY female figures but a lot of the hold the identities of the males they were married too. (eg Woman wife of So and So) Or the VIRGIN Mary, mother of Jesus. The few women NOT married (according to the bible anyway) were whores or reformed whores. Like... The Magdalene. My point being. the bible was written by a bunch of misogynistic f*cksticks.
ANYWAY
The Hierchy's I think had to start with religious patriarchs of the family, starting with Rabbis. Since they were not always the first born, they seem to have more status. Just an idea anyway.
